Nathan's Old and Nostalgic Band Page

Back in the good ol' days of free time (mainly college), I used to have time to play my guitar and bass. I managed to be in a band in college named Dog Jaw, and one right after I graduated named Brain Bucket. As you can probably tell, they were both on the lighter nonserious side. We did however play many a gig and--believe it or not--got paid. Each band produced one album.

Dog Jaw

Dog Jaw was a Gainesville, FL based band (we were all going to the University of Florida). We were only together for a year, but we had a blast and played many a gig.

This album cover was made by hand from white card-stock and tie-dyed green. The brown splotches are motorcycle grease droppings, since we dried all the covers in Kevin and James' garage.  The cassette only had four tunes with the same four on both sides.   The final studio mix was on DAT, so the original four songs will not be posted until I can buy or bum a DAT player from someone.  Until then, I have posted some of the studio remixes (thanks to our engineer Sean Helmsin).  These are all from cassette tape so the sound quality is poor.

Brain Bucket

Brain Bucket was a Cocoa/Melbourne, FL based band. We were together for a little over a year, and also played a lot of gigs and wrote a lot of original tunes. Our cassette has nine songs, and was recorded in one extended weekend (Friday evening, Saturday, and Sunday)!

We actually sprang for a pseudo-professional J-Card for the cassette. I also got a CD for myself.  Recently, I have been messing with MP3 audio files.  Using some freeware/shareware utilities, I digitially ripped the CD to my hard disk as WAV files and then converted them to MP3 format (this was a slow process).  If you are interested, you can find the utilities to do this and more at http://www.mp3.com.   The MP3 player I use is WinAmp which is available at http://www.winamp.com.
